Letter from the Executive Director

I’ve been working with seniors for 9 years now, but I began my career in 2007 working in Long Term Care as a Nursing Assistant. Nursing was actually a second career for me as I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Management. I worked my way through nursing school, and then followed my heart to work with Geriatric patients. Being the youngest of 4 children and 7 grandchildren, you often spend a lot of time with aging parents and grandparents. You can also be handed the “care-taker” responsibility, and I found myself caring for my grandparents even before I knew I wanted to be a nurse. My love for the senior population eventually carried me into the Assisted Living industry. I’m also a very big supporter of Alzheimer’s Disease Research and continue to support the efforts to find a cure.

I started at Pheasant Ridge in 2013, as the Health Services Director and I have held many positions here since that time. I’m grateful for all of those experiences that guided me into the Executive Director role. Pheasant Ridge is an industry leader in the Roanoke Valley. Because of the welcoming environment, and family atmosphere, it’s a pleasure to work here every day. I think my favorite part of this community is the ability we have to make a difference in the life of a senior almost every day. Not only do we have that ability, but we succeed as team to make sure it happens.

No one wakes up one day and decides it’s time for Assisted Living, there are usually many circumstances that lead to needing care for a loved-one. The best part of Pheasant Ridge is giving families a sense of peace knowing that their family member will be taken care of and still maintain a positive quality of life enjoying things they love!

Sincerely,

Jackie Holton - Executive Director
