Compassion Visit Program
Although social distancing and physical separation are still important to keep our residents safe, we are taking steps to combat the unintended consequences of prolonged social isolation and to maintain overall health and wellbeing. We are pleased to announce the planned implementation of a new Compassionate Care Visit program.
If the community experiences an outbreak, the Compassion Visit Program will be suspended immediately. This program is established in coordination with local, state and regulatory guidelines for visitor restrictions which may allow certain visitors for residents from outside our community, necessary for those residents with Hospice services, or essential for the well-being or psychosocial support of residents as a result of social isolation related to COVID-19.
We ask for patience and support as we implement our program that balances safety, health and wellness for our residents, employees and for those who will be visit and follow our Compassionate Care program or serve in an essential caregiver role. We recognize the critical role family members, outside caregivers, such as friends, volunteers, private personal caregivers, often have to support the care of residents.
This information is provided to you in advance of this program implementation so you have a better understanding of the policies, protocols and standards for Compassionate Care visits. We encourage you to read the attached information to fully understand the guidance we are required to follow and ensure compliance with our goal to protect the health and safety or residents and employees. Listed below are some of the guidance criteria we will use:
- Compassionate Care visitors shall be required to read and sign the Covid-19 Risk Addendum before visit can take place
- Compassionate Care visitors shall be 18 years and older
- Compassionate Care visitors shall be family members, power of attorneys, outside caregivers, friends or designated Essential Caregivers who provide regular care and emotional support to the resident prior to the pandemic
- Compassionate Care visitors shall limit their movement in our Community to the entrance screening area, designated visitation space and designated visitor bathroom.
- Compassionate Care Visits shall schedule appointments, a minimum of 24-hours in advance, during hours designated by the Executive Director/Designee and visits are limited to 10% of the total community current occupancy
- Compassionate Care Visits shall be suspended at any time under the direction of local, state or federal agencies directives
- Compassionate Care Visits require a PPE Kit be purchased from the Community at a cost of $6.00 for a one-time use kit. This is to ensure an intact, clean, unused equipment The PPE fee shall be paid the community by the visitor in cash or check only and cannot be charged to a resident’s account. The Executive Director reserves the right to notify families of alternate means to cover the cost of community PPE.
Realizing both the potential benefits and risks of allowing Compassionate Care visitors into the Community, we will continue to review and monitor the current status of COVID-19 in our community, city, county, and local communities prior to scheduling visitation. If, at any time, it is deemed unsafe to enter our community — due to positive COVID-19 exposure in our community, or in the broader community, we reserve the right and our obligation per guidelines, local and state requirements we shall revisit and reassess the Compassionate Care Visit program. Please know we reserve the right to restrict or revoke Compassionate Care visits if our established policies and protocols are not followed by visitors allowed to visit our residents. We know that you share our concerns regarding efforts required to reduce COVID-19 exposure for our community residents.

We will do our best to accommodate each request, understanding that we require time to disinfect the designated areas between each scheduled visit.
We recognize one of the most difficult things about COVID-19 for our residents has been the prolonged separation from families and loved ones. While this virus is still very much a threat in our communities, we must take careful steps in plans to re-open our community to visitors. We also deeply feel the desire of our residents and their loved ones to be connected in a more meaningful way.
Please know we continue to provide outdoor visits, window visits, and visits through technology and encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities. We will keep you updated on the status of our re-opening and look forward to the day when we can warmly welcome all visitors back into our community.
